The Jaygee Racing Linear 200 PWM HO-1/32 controller is a high performance
24-band electronic controller, designed to handle HO cars from T-jets to
Unlimiteds and both magnet  and non-magnet 1/32 scale cars. Designed with
the cost conscious home and club racer in mind , it's value priced...yet packed
with high end features such as software programmable
SOFTouch™ throttle
control, powerful
Extended Range PWM MOSFET brakes and an ultra-light
weight, USB cable connected modular design.

HO and 1/32nd Scale Cars Require a SOFTouch™
HO and 1/32nd scale cars can be extremely sensitive to throttle input,
particularly when driven though tight corners on home or club tracks. The cars
operate across a wide voltage range and the handling characteristics of magnet
and non-magnet cars vary widely, as do racers' preferred driving styles. That's
why JayGee Racing developed software driven SOFTouch throttle control, an
innovative approach to giving racers a soft bottom end throttle response when
they need it, with a broad enough sensitivity range to handle their fastest and
best handling cars.

SOFTouch throttle control changes both the shape of the throttle response curve
and starting voltage with a single control knob. At the lower sensitivity settings,
the transistor module's microcontroller is programmed to deliver a  response
curve flatter on the bottom end for fine control of corner exit speed. As the
sensitivity is increased, the trigger response becomes more linear, as shown in
Figure 1 (The output voltage is represented as a percentage of track voltage to
eliminate differences between track power supplies).

Modular, Programmable, Upgradeable Design
The Linear 200 PWM HO-1/32 controller is completely modular, programmable
and upgradeable. By swapping out control chips or transistor modules (your
choice), you can change throttle and brake profiles, add powered coast for
Unlimited HO cars, or even transform the controller into a fully functional 1/24th
scale controller. You can even upgrade your transistor module to a Pro 40 or
Pro 40E to race GP12, GP7 wings or Eurosports.

Extremely Wide Operating Voltage Range
The controller's operating voltage extends from 10V to 25V to handle all of your
racing needs. If your cars are still too fast at 10V, you can add a voltage limiting
choke to the controller with about $20 worth of parts. An article showing how to
do this can be downloaded from our
Tech Info Library.

Do you Race on a Negative Polarity Track?
Plug in a negative gate control chip and your positive polarity Linear 200 PWM
HO - 1/32 controller is now ready to run on those rare tracks that still haven't
"seen the light". O'k, you also need to connect the controller's brake line to track
WHITE and white line to track RED...but you can handle that, can't you?

Maintain Control After Power Off
Trigger position is monitored for a few moments after the track power shuts off.
If the trigger is held in the throttle position, the car is allowed to coast to a stop.
However, if the brake contact closes during that time, the brakes are engaged.
This allows you to gain precious distance on your competitor during track calls
or at race end while still allowing you to safely brake for a corner after the
power shuts off.

Powered Coast for Unlimited HO
Install our powered coast control chip to add powered coast to your controller.
When this chip is installed, the brake pot provides Extended Range PWM
brake control during it's first 2/3rds of rotation (from 100% down to 0%), then
up to 25% of track voltage during the last 1/3rd.

Why Pay Someone Hundreds of Dollars to Add a Choke?

PWM MOSFET Transistor Modules Deliver Full Power to Motor
The PWM MOSFET transistor module uses power MOSFETs to conduct motor
current instead of the bipolar transistors used in conventional electronic
controllers. Since a power MOSFET's  on-resistance is as low or lower  than a
full power relay's contacts, relays aren't needed to deliver full power to the
motor.. Get the technical details by downloading

Power is delivered through 10-gauge, fine stranded flexible cables for minimal
power drop. The socketed control chip is programmed for SOFTouch™ throttle
control and Extended Range PWM MOSFET brakes, standard.

Avoid Trouble with Triple Protection
Mistakes happen! In the heat of the action you hook up your controller wrong.
The Linear 200 PWM MOSFET transistor module is protected in multiple ways,
using techniques found in hi-rel military electronics. Custom designed current
sensing circuits monitor current flow through the throttle and brake MOSFETs,
shutting off the MOSFET drivers within microseconds of detecting a short, even
protecting the crossbar protection fuse ...and restoring power automatically
when the short is removed. A reverse polarity protection circuit in the brake line
is implemented with a "perfect diode", blocking power applied to the brake line
while not impacting brake performance.  Lastly, a readily available 10 amp
automotive blade fuse is coupled with 300-amp surge rated diodes to
implement a crowbar protection circuit, protecting the controller from damage if
the current sensing circuits are disabled.

The controller won't even be damaged by accidentally connecting it to a
negative polarity track

24-Band Wiper Board - An Industry First
JayGee Racing pioneered high band-count wiper boards. Our 24-band  wiper
boards provide unprecedented granularity in speed control, allowing you to
make small changes to the car's speed with almost imperceptible finger
movements.

But there's more to circuit boards than band count. The Linear 200's circuit
board sits low in the handle for strength and durability. It features gold-plated
wiper pads for long life, 24 bands on 50 mil centers. Wiper current is virtually
independent of motor draw and is typically no more that 30 milliamps (that’s
right, over 1000 times less than the peak motor current), virtually eliminating
wiper arcing and circuit board burn.  Accessory mounting holes are provided
for choke controls. The Linear 200 includes ultra-light  throttle sensitivity and
brake pots mounted directly to the PCB with printed indicator marks for rapid,
repeatable setup.

Simple, Maintainable, Reliable
Special attention was paid to simplicity of design, maintainability and reliability.
All circuit boards are built with surface mount components wherever possible...
all soldered in place by the PCB factory.  There's only one soldered wire
connection in the entire handle...a 441-strand 18-gauge lead wire connecting
the wiper button to the PCB, virtually eliminating thin broken wiper wires as a
source of trouble. The MOSFET brake eliminates dirty brake contacts and
brake pots as a source of concern and an innovative current sensing circuit
eliminates deterioration prone PTC fuses, shutting off the brake and throttle
MOSFETs in case of a short circuit.

Complete details of the protection circuits are described in

Controller Mysteries Revealed.

Zero Dead Bands for Improved Responsiveness
Zero dead-band controllers eliminate the wasted trigger travel across a dead
band, improving brake and throttle response. When braking, the throttle
MOSFET is shut off and the brakes engaged the moment the brake contact
closes, even though the wiper button is still riding on a powered wiper band.
Conversely, the throttle MOSFET turns on faster under acceleration because
the wiper is always in contact with a power band...power is applied the instant
the brake contact opens.

User Friendly Design
Small but important touches enhance the usability of the Linear 200 controller.
A green LED is provided on the power board as a power and status indicator, a
throttle LED for diagnostics and a brake LED for dialing in the MOSFET brake.
The USB cable may be used as a quick-disconnect to facilitate storage or
secured with a strain relief tie strap. The control pots are labeled and dial
positions are printed on the circuit board - Min, Max and 9 intermediate
positions to facilitate repeatable, rapid set up.   Even the trigger is contoured
for user comfort.

Smooth and Comfortable Trigger Action
The trigger assembly rides on close tolerance bushings with an adjustable
nylon insert pivot retaining nut, virtually eliminating side play. The trigger is also
contoured for comfort.

The Linear 200 is accompanied by a user manual that shows first time
electronic controller users how to rapidly dial in the controller's sensitivity
settings to suit their car's handling characteristics and track conditions.

We know that many slot car enthusiasts like to service and maintain their own
equipment. That's why the Linear 200 User Manual also describes how to
maintain the controller and even perform field repairs. Part numbers for field
