The Jaygee Racing Linear 200 Pro 40 is a high performance, 24-band linear
response electronic controller, capable of handling all motor types ranging
from Falcons and 16Ds through Eurosports and GP7s. It incorporates the
latest advances in controller design...from it's linear response, zero dead-band
throttle control and software programmable Brake N' Release™ MOSFET
brake profile to it’s ultra-light weight, USB cable connected modular design.
JayGee Racing developed Brake N' Release™ brake control...a user
adjustable MOSFET brake that could engage the brake HARD, then release it
before the car stopped completely...even if the controller trigger were still in the
brake position. The controller is designed for the ultimate in flexibility. The
brake profiles are software driven...Users can plug in new brake profile chips
such as the Extended Range PWM profile chip to suit their driving style.
In response to user requests, the 40-amp blast relay is now a standard
feature...and your requests for a lighter weight controller led us to develop a
modular design with a USB cable connecting the ultra-light handle to the
transistor power module, another industry first.
Modular, Programmable, Upgradeable Design
The Linear 200 Pro 40 controller is completely modular, programmable and
upgradeable. Swapping out transistor modules transforms the controller into a
fully functional HO and 1/32nd scale controller...even one that provides
powered coast for unlimited HO cars. Or, upgrade your transistor module to a
Pro 40E to race GP12, GP7 wings or Eurosports.
Simple, Maintainable, Reliable
Special attention was paid to simplicity of design, maintainability and reliability.
All circuit boards are built with surface mount components wherever possible...
all soldered in place by the PCB factory. There's only one soldered wire
connection in the entire handle...a 441-strand 18-gauge lead wire connecting
the wiper button to the PCB, virtually eliminating thin broken wiper wires as a
source of trouble. The MOSFET brake eliminates dirty brake contacts and brake
pots as a source of concern and an innovative current sensing circuit
eliminates deterioration prone PTC fuses, shutting the brake MOSFET off in
case of a short circuit.
Linear Throttle Response
Throttle response is linear as shown in the figure below, regardless of the
throttle sensitivity pot setting. There’s no compromising between the car’s
minimum starting speed and the controller’s trigger response, and no need to
tweak individual pots to adjust the voltage steps between wiper bands. You’ll
feel the power come on smoothly as the trigger is pulled back, without the
controller feeling mushy and unresponsive in the lower and midrange bands
and twitchy in the upper bands.
Trigger Response
Zero Dead Bands for Improved Responsiveness
Zero dead-band controllers eliminate the wasted trigger travel across a dead
band, improving brake and throttle response. When braking, the power
transistor is shut off and the brakes engaged the moment the brake contact
closes, even though the wiper button is still riding on a powered wiper band.
Conversely, the power transistor turns on faster under acceleration because
the wiper is always in contact with a power band...power is applied the instant
the brake contact opens.
Extremely Wide Sensitivity Range
The throttle sensitivity adjustment can be set low enough to slow the car down
to a virtual crawl for fine control of scale cars on twisty flat tracks or to help
keep the front end of wing cars from popping on punch-bowl super
speedways.
Or turn the sensitivity up all the way for hair trigger response...whatever it takes
to suit your driving style..
24-Band Voltage Follower Circuit Board - An Industry First
JayGee Racing pioneered high band-count wiper boards. Our 24-band wiper
boards provide unprecedented granularity in speed control, allowing you to
make small changes to the car's speed with almost imperceptible finger
movements. And the voltage follower control circuit, as implemented on the
circuit board with surface mount precision integrated resistor networks,
provides the linear response curve that the Linear 200 is known for.
But there's more to circuit boards than band count and response curves.
The Linear 200's circuit board sits low in the handle for strength and durability.
It features gold-plated wiper pads for long life, 24 bands on 50 mil centers.
Wiper current is virtually independent of motor draw and is typically no more
that 30 milliamps (that’s right, over 1000 times less than the peak motor
current), virtually eliminating wiper arcing and circuit board burn. A contact for
the 40-amp blast relay is integrated into the circuit board and frame, so no
extra wires are needed in the handle. Accessory mounting holes are also
provided for choke controls. The Linear 200 includes ultra-light throttle
sensitivity and brake pots mounted directly to the PCB with printed indicator
marks for rapid, repeatable setup.
High Current Power Modules Deliver Full Power to Motor
Utilizing a low current voltage follower control circuit and a high-gain
Darlington power transistor, the Linear 200 Pro 40 is rated to deliver up to 40
amps (peak) and 20 amps (continuous) of current to keep your most power
hungry motors well fed. Wiper current is virtually independent of motor draw
and is typically no more that 30 milliamps (that’s right, over 1000 times less
than the peak motor current), virtually eliminating wiper arcing and circuit
board burn.
Power is delivered through 10-gauge, fine stranded flexible cables for
minimal power drop…and a 40-amp blast relay is included as standard
equipment. The power module features a high efficiency heat sink, 160W
Darlington transistor and MOSFET brakes with socketed Brake N' Release™
MOSFET brake profile chip. Protection is provided by a 20-amp automotive
blade fuse and 300-amp surge rated crowbar protection diodes for the power
transistor and a current sensing electronic circuit breaker with auto reset and
reverse polarity protection for the brake MOSFET.
The Linear 200 Pro 40 transistor module is designed for use with any motor
from Falcons and 16Ds through GP7 Wing Cars. The Linear 200 Pro 40E
transistor module features the same electronics mounted on a larger
heatsink for Eurosport racing.
Smooth and Comfortable Trigger Action
The trigger assembly rides on dual ball bearings, virtually eliminating side
play. The trigger is also contoured for comfort.
Avoid Double Trouble with Double Protection
Mistakes happen! In the heat of the action you hook up your controller wrong.
The Linear 200 Pro 40 is protected in multiple ways...a 20 amp automotive
blade fuse in the power line and a custom designed current sensing
electronic breaker with auto reset and reverse polarity protection for the brake
MOSFET. An extensive suite of tests was run to minimize damage to the
controller when accidentally mis-wired.
User Friendly Design
Small but important touches enhance the usability of the Linear 200 controller.
A green LED is provided on the power board as a power and status indicator...
and a brake LED for dialing in the MOSFET brake. The USB cable may be
used as a quick-disconnect to facilitate storage or secured with a strain relief
tie strap. The control pots are labeled and dial positions are printed on the
circuit board - Min, Max and 9 intermediate positions to facilitate repeatable,
rapid set up. Even the trigger is contoured for user comfort

Complete User Documentation
The Linear 200 is accompanied by a user manual that shows first time
electronic controller users how to rapidly dial in the controller's sensitivity
settings to suit their car's handling characteristics and track conditions.
We know that many slot car enthusiasts like to service and maintain their own
equipment. That's why the Linear 200 User Manual also describes how to
maintain the controller and even perform field repairs. Part numbers for the
power module's transistor are included so you can order replacement parts
directly from electronics distributors.
