Fuses and MOSFETS and Brakes...Oh My!
ATO automotive fuses are known for their low resistance in brake circuits but
aren't resettable. PTCs are resettable but their higher resistance can weaken
braking circuits. In this article, Jeff Goldberg compares and contrasts brake
circuit protection technologies in common use today, presenting an alternative
approach that combines the best attributes of fuses and PTCs.

MOSFET Slot Car Controller Mysteries Revealed
A "must read" article for slot racers interested in building their own MOSFET
based PWM motor drive circuits. Jeff Goldberg covers design issues
addressed during the development of the PWM MOSFET transistor module
used in the exciting new Linear 200 PWM LP and HO-1/32nd scale controllers.

Build Your Own Electronic Choke for Under $20
Co-written by Jeff Goldberg and Guillermo Suar, this article describes how to
build an electronic choke, aka voltage limiter, for scale racing.

Electronic Slot Car Controller Mysteries Revealed
Jeff Goldberg, the designer of the JayGee Racing Linear 200 controller, wrote a
series of articles on electronic controller design that appeared in Slotcar
Bulletin. The first installment appeared in issue #85 and explained the
differences and tradeoffs between linear power transistor and switched mosfet
based controllers. Subsequent installments went into details of how to design
a linear response controller and how to build the prototype of our first
generation Linear 100 controller using components easily obtainable by
hobbyists.

The (almost) complete manuscript, including schematics for positive and
negative wired versions of the Linear 100 prototype is now available on-line.
JayGee Racing also has a limited quantity of bare Linear 100 24-band wiper
boards, with assembly instructions, to assist you in building your own
controller.
